Abstract | The Asian Cultural Council celebrates its 10th anniversary in November 1996. The author reviews its long-running, eye-opening, stateside fellowship grant scheme and the talents it has nurtured. The Asia Cultural Council has not given an artistic performance as such, the low-profile organisation has worked quietly in the background to encourage the development of visual and performing artists, architects and conservationists, by sourcing funds and organising cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and the US. Those who have enjoyed its patronage are profoundly grateful and, on the whole, rather successful. |
