Abstract | One of the merits of School Management Initiative (SMI) is the provision of a management framework for use in schools. This management framework tries to define clearly the different roles of school personnel, encourages greater participation of related parties in school functions and promotes more systematic planning and assessment of programmes. To this end, schools are required to draw up its "Annual School Plan", which should include major concerns of the school in the current year. As one of the SMI participating schools, Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (Shatin) have made use of the "School Planning/Staff Development Day" to work on the school plan. A set of "Student-oriented Effectiveness Enhancing Policy" has been formulated and duly implemented in 1995/96. The four schemes of the Policy are further explained in this article. |
