Article TitleHow SMI schools may make use of their financial autonomy.
Is Part OfSMI quarterly ; no.12, Mar 1995, p.8-9.
AbstractThe purpose of initiating the "Block Grant" is to enable School Management Initiative (SMI) schools to fully utilize their resources in an effective way according to their own needs. The "Block Grant" is made up of four components, i.e. Administration Grant, School and Class Grant, Furniture and Equipment Grant and Substitute Teacher Grant. As these grants can be used collectively, the schools may use the surplus in one of the accounting items, e.g. Administration Grant, to purchase furniture and equipment provided that these items are used for educational purposes or installed within the school area. These items are not restricted to standard furniture and equipment. This article provides a further explanation of the concept of "Block Grant".
