| Abstract | In this article, the Shatin Methodist College shares its experience in participating the School Management Initiative (SMI) Scheme. As the author says, before the school joined the SMI scheme, its finances were managed by the principal and an accounts clerk. There was no overall budget for various subjects and committees. Most expenses were disbursed in the form of reimbursement of actual expenditure. After deciding to join the SMI Scheme, the school set up a Finance Team comprising experienced teachers to help systematize its financial operation in order to acquire detailed information on the allocation of resources in the school. The author briefly introduces what the Finance Team has done from 1993 to 1995. |
