| Abstract | More and more cotton stocks are accumulationg in the provinces, cotton mills across the country are reporting losses. A report compiled by the China National Textile Council shows 64% of the state-run textile enterprises experiencing losses, up 14% from the same period of 1995 and with total losses of about 3,005 million Yuan. These stockpiles are accumulating not on account of a large harvest but because the price is too high for the cotton mills to pay. |
