| Abstract | Although British government policy has prevented the formation of formal ties between Hong Kong and Taiwan, economic transactions between these two territories have never ceased. Hong Kong and Taiwan have many links on the issues of investment, trade, travel services and shipping services. However, the future Hong Kong-Taiwan ties will likely be based on Peking's calculation of its net gains, political risks, and economic interests in its transactions with both Hong Kong and Taipei in the post-1997 period. |
