| Abstract | In order to study the conflicts between clans and lineages (zhongxing xiedou, zongzu xiedou) or between villages (cunshe xiedou), and even between townships (xiang), collections of wenshi ziliao (documents on culture and history) are needed. Most of the documents expand upon the effective role of the Communist authorities in suppressing the xiedou, or better still in preventing them through foresight, but they are summary and imprecise on the conflicts themselves. |
