| Abstract | The results of local experiments on the old age pension scheme reform are arriving back in Peking. In December 1994, a national conference on experimental old age insurance reforms was held in Peking in order to assess the results of different local experiments and try to draw up guidelines for establishing a national system. The new labour law, which came into effect on 1 January 1995, is another attempt to rationalize the different experiments in social security in China which have been carried out at a local level (unemployment insurance, minimum wage, work injury compensation). |
