| Abstract | In a suburb of Shanghai a mini Sock & Stocking City is being set up by merger of Shanghai No.8 Sock & Stocking Plant and five smaller sock and stocking factories. The City will be developed in three stages. The final phase will be completed in 1999-2000 with a further 200 modern sock weaving machines imported, making 1,000 in all. The output from the Sock & Stocking City should then match the total from Shanghai's 14 existing sock and stocking plants. |
