| Abstract | The development of clothing production in Wuhan has been rapid. In 1990 its total output of clothing was worth 670 million Yuan, but in 1995 the total rose over 4 billion Yuan. With most garment factories operated by private businessmen or as foreign-funded joint ventures, competition is keen but production technology and management skill remain at a very low level. Unless it can obtain expertise and expert guidance from outside, there seems no hope of Wuhan garment plants' upgrading their output. Hence the quality of the Wuhan garment industry's products hardly merits praise. |
