Abstract | Nanchong county in Sichuan province, one of China's 14 silk textile production bases, and supplies a quarter of Sichuan's silk and silk fabrics. It also operates the biggest silk fabric printing and dyeing plant in Southwestern China. Despite its industrial importance, Nanchong has a lack of railway line, a shortage of raw materials, a neglect of the quality of the silk, an overmanning problem, a lack of supervision, high wastage and unreasonable level of taxation. |
