| Abstract | The cotton crop of Xinjiang, China, in 1995 is reported to have achieved "three merits, two satisfactions and one first prize". The merits include a meritorious policy of cotton planting to guarantee a bumper harvest and make the cotton farmers willing to sell their cotton, a meritorious market management system to guarantee orderly sales of cotton, and a meritorious effort by the officials in the purchasing depots to ensure smooth operation and fulfilment of their duties. |
