| Abstract | In the last three or four years, theme restaurants have been springing up in Peking at a rate probably unsurpassed anywhere else in the world. The function of the theme is to attract customers by appealing to their curiosity or feelings. But just what is behind this phenomenon which, while primarily commercial in nature, appears to have, at another level, a deeper sociological significance. |
