AbstractIn recent years, the awareness of the relevance of spiritual and religious dimensions in social work practice has been renewed and cogently argued in overseas literature. In Hong Kong, temple going is a fact of life for many people. Healing rituals are regularly performed in many temples. In this paper, a temple healing ritual is analyzed. A parallel is drawn between psychotherapeutic work and temple healing. It is argued that temple healing challenges our foundation of clinical social work with Chinese clients.
