| Abstract | The premise of this paper is that attention to cultural imperatives is a prerequisite to effective practice. It is believed that by linking social work practice and its services more closely to the social and cultural contexts of the practice environment, social work can be made more culturally sensitive, and its effectiveness can be enhanced. This paper will highlight major development that has taken place in indigenizing social work in Hong Kong based on a cursory review of local material published, and to identify challenges that lie ahead. |
