| Abstract | Domestic interest rates remained on a downward trend in the December quarter, resulting in a further decline in the average cost of funds and a widening of interest spreads. This, in turn, fed through to an increase in the net interest margin. However, lower interest rates dampened the growth in HK dollar deposits. Total lending picked up on the back of the sustained growth in residential mortgage lending and the recovery in some major economic sectors. |
