| Abstract | The slump in global market made 1994 a challenging year for Hong Kong banks. On the supervisory front, revised policies on liquidity and loan classification were introduced and an agreed package of reforms relating to financial disclosure was released. Some of the interest rate ceilings on time deposits were removed. A number of supervisory initiatives will be undertaken in 1995 but with a sensitivity to the costs of regulation. |
