| Abstract | Prime Minister John Major asserted here recently that the British "investment" in Hong Kong was worth 70 pounds (HK$840 billion). It is a very rubbery statistic. The claim, says a British official here, is based on a figure quoted in a "fact" sheet put out by the Hong Kong Government Trade Department, which in turn got it from. The figure is highly questionable. |
