Abstract | Despite the large amount of Hong Kong dollars flowing into Shenzhen, China's central bank won't allow the Special Economic Zone to use the currency on a freely-convertible basis with the yuan, according to Wang Xiyi, the bank's branch director in the SEZ. China's top bank officials fear a freely-convertible yuan in Shenzhen might create disparities with other areas on the mainland. |
