Abstract | This, the final year in Hongkong's history as a British colony, will perhaps be the most crucial. The hopes, the fears of this community will emerge in sharp focus during these twelve months, even as we reflect on what has gone before these 150 years. Confidence in the future remains a key issue. In recent months issue have arisen between Britian, China and the Hongkong Government which have tested our resolve and faith. Given the Territory's refugee culture, any erosion of confidence will prompt people to run for cover. Yet there is so much we have going for us. |
