| Abstract | Hydrothermal synthetic emeralds are being produced in commercial quantities by a subsidiary of the Geology Research Institute in Guilin in Guangxi Province in China, called Guilin Farsight Synthetic Crystal Co Ltd. In this report, chief engineer and manager of the project in China, Geng Ge Liang, and managing director of Hong Kong, Ou-Yang Chiu Mei, describe the physical and chemical properties of the synthetics which will help in identification. |
