| Abstract | Along with the implementation of other multilateral trade measures agreed in the Uruguay Round, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) canme into force on 1 January 1995. Eighty-one countries and territories became members on that date, including all EU members, the US, Japan and Hong Kong. As accession to the WTO is subject to full acceptance of the Uruguay Round (UR) Agreement, the EU has amended its regulations to implement the new multilateral trade measures. The amendments included tariffs, anti-dumping, textile & clothing and common commercial policy. |
