| Abstract | As a result of the change to EU rates of duty, on 1 January 1994, the 1995 landed cost of foreign goods in the new members, including Customs duty, will be either higher or lower than in 1994, and this will change the competitive position of the Hong Kong exporter's production in the new member's markets in relation to European competitors and often to competitors from other non-European countries. |
