| Abstract | Tocbacco smoking contributes substantially to all cardiovascular disease, accounting, in countries where it is an established habit, for 25% of all deaths from coronary artery disease, particularly those in the younger age groups. The involvement of cardiologists and cardiological societies in reducing the 3,500 tobacco-related annual deaths in Hong Kong is crucial - not only at the doctor-patient level, but at the public level and by supporting political action. |
