| Abstract | Congestive heart failure is a chronic progressive disease with significant cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Despite advances in new medications, patients remain symptomatic with frequent deocmpensation. The article described the first two implantation of atrial-based, synchronous biventricular pacemaker implantation in the Asian-Pacific region. These two patients had chronic heart failure with a widened QRS complexes. After the procedure and optimisation of atrioventricular interval there was immediate improvement in clinical status as well as systolic and diastolic function by Doppler echocardiography. The usefulness of synchronous biventricular pacing provides a new adjunctive measure in selected patients with chronic heart failure. |
