AbstractTetanus is an acute illness of generalised spasms caused by a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium - Clostridium tetani. The disease has a high case-fatality rate. Recent investigation of cases showed that injecting drug use was the single most important risk factor. This paper discusses the epidemiology of tetanus and its control strategies in Hong Kong.
