| Abstract | Studies on the drinking behaviour of Chinese in Hong Kong highlight many important issues like the relationship between narcotic addiction and alcohol use and misuse, the trend of alcohol consumption in the community, the prevalence of alcohol-related disabilities and offences and the identification of problem drinker. Female alcohol misusers, the genetics, biochemistry and brain imaging of alcohol misusers, comorbidity of alcohol misuse, drug dependence and other psychiatric illnesses, and the organization of brief intervention treatment and self-help group are identified as areas of high priority for research and service development. |
