| Abstract | The debate in Hong Kong on the need and the appropriateness on the options of a retirement protection scheme has been going on for more than a quarter of a century since the idea was first raised. We are still going nowhere. While awaiting the consultancy report to be released shortly, let us reaffirm that it is about time we honoured our elderly for their dedication and contribution to the community and help our young to start to prepare a decent quality of life after retirement. We need to ensure the successful implementation of a retirement protection scheme, with the full participation of the Government. |
