| Abstract | From 1979, when the first Vietnamese boat people made the landfall in Hongkong up until May this year, 206, 342 Vietnamese have made the run to Hongkong. That it has been costly is evident. Whether the cost was necessary is debatable. The story of what has happened to the Vietnamese does not make pleasant reading, nor in the latter years does it do Hongkong or the British government any credit. |
