AbstractIn the latter part of 1994, Hongkong's hoteliers were roundly attacked for bumping up their prices on the back of speculation that a shortage of rooms was imminent in 1995. Fluctuations in the number of visitor arrivals at the beginning of the year confirmed the cynics in their view that the hotel industry had priced itself out of a very competitive Asian market. The authors talked to local hoteliers and discovered that some of the negative hype is unfounded. The Hongkong hotel industry is alive and kicking, looking forward to boom years at the end of the century.
