AbstractAs people march into the millennium, it is time to re-examine the standards required to deliver quality primary care. The Harvard Report released in 1999, which examined health care in Hong Kong, criticized the poor quality of care of some medical practices. D.K.T. Li, President of The Hong Kong College of Family Physicians (HKCFP), points out in the article that the Report stirred emotions amongst doctors in Hong Kong. For a brief while, the College Council became excited when development of Family Medicine reappeared on the agenda of Health Administrators of the Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government. Unfortunately, further discussions and action could not be sustained, somewhat similar to the concerns about the sustainability of financing health care in Hong Kong.
