| Abstract | Hong Kong and Singaporean foreign exchange (forex) traders are the Asian financial community's most controversial figures. Conspiracy theorists pointedly note that these traders, who are blamed by regional governments for precipitating the financial crisis, have been the star performers of leading banks. The banks counter -- with sorrow and justification -- that currency-trading gains of their forex teams have been offset by other losses. |
