| Abstract | Many a small investor has learned the dangers lurking in emerging markets. But farsighted players know there are ways to minimize risk. Pedro Marcal, a 32-year-old Californian and an economist by training, as well as manager of United States (U.S.)-based Nicholas Applegate Capital Management's Emerging Countries Fund, says one way to minimize volatility is to focus on companies -- not countries. He has placed money in some 33 countries worldwide through the $261-million fund. In the article, he talks about the reasons why he flees Asia's submerging markets. |
