Abstract | Lee Hon-chiu, recently re-elected chairman of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK), is the first head of an Asian bourse to be voted as president of the International Federation of Stock Exchanges (FIBV). It was an eventful year for the Exchange, whose reputation was challenged elsewhere following the government's August intervention as an investor in 1998. In the article, Lee talks about some of the issues that have confronted him during the year and, with his new international duties in mind, looks to the year. |
