| Abstract | It is not only corruption and suspicious deaths that taints the military. The armed forces are also accused of incompetence and insufficient discipline. Parris Chang, co-chairman of the legislature's National Defense Committee, believes most of the problems result from the military's lack of accountability. This, however, is set to change. Also, a national defense bill written by Taiwan's legislators is featured. |
