| Abstract | Two elderly patients presented with rapidly progressive dementia and their electroencephalograms showed periodic discharges. Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease was pathologically confirmed in one of the patients. Striking clinical features and characteristic electroencephalograms should prompt the clinical diagnosis in most patients. |
