AbstractThe exporters of handbags made in China say that they will be crippled by a 39.2% flat-rate anti-dumping duty proposed by the European Commission on such items. Representatives of some 60 companies met on February 26 of 1997 with officials of the Trade Department and the Trade Development Council to seek their support in lobbying against the duty. This, they say, will hit about 1,000 factories in Hong Kong and 2,400 in China.
