| Abstract | Since 1995, China has remained the world's third largest shipbuilder after Japan and South Korea. Industry sources attribute the Chinese shipbuilding industry's impressive growth to a mode conversion in shipbuilding. Zhang Minghua, deputy director of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC)'s Production and Business Department says: 'The key to sharp increases in the shipbuilding productivity of China's major shipyards is a well-coordinated campaign to change China's outdated shipbuilding mode.' |
