| Abstract | The boom of computer-based data communication (datacom) build-ups in China has accelerated the nationwide deployment of Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) -- the core technology for broadband switching, transmission and interface which China has long considered as a must in establishing the national multimedia infrastructure in the near future. Despite the fact that China has only started to establish its multimedia infrastructure for two years and most of ongoing projects are still at the experimental stage, market analysts affirm that China will strive to follow the ATM trend closely. The article features the development of ATM. |
