AbstractBased on research and experimentation, the major goal of cognitive behaviour therapy is to help bring about changes in the person's life by altering the undesirable factors maintaining a disorder through intervention in the immediate circumstances after systematic specification and measurement. It is important to base interventions on an understanding of the patient and his/her problems and to use them strategically. It is effective when used alone or in combination with medication. Clinical applications have for decades been found with promising results in the management of enuresis, obesity, chronic pain, insomnia, addiction, medically unexplained physical symptoms, injection phobia and many others.
