| Abstract | The Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) General Regulations were passsed by the Legislative Council on 1 April 1998. These regulations outline the general rules of the system and provide details of the interface with Occupational Retirement Savings Ordinance (ORSO) Schemes, permitted investment products, and obligations of employers and trustees. Despite the passage of these regulations, the 'Effective Date' of MPF will likely be delayed until the end of first quarter 2000, because of the requirement to staff the MPF Authority, and approve trustees and products. Nonetheless, there is much to be done by Employers and Human Resource practitioners between now and that date. |
