Abstract | It is time for The Hong Kong Ship Owners Association to play a large part in ensuring that Hong Kong continues to be recognised as the pre-eminent Shipping Centre of Asia. Today Hong Kong faced competition as a maritime centre -- particularly from Singapore which promoted itself as a one-stop city-port offering every type of maritime service, as said by James Hughes-Hallett, the new chairman of the Association. The article features what constituted Hong Kong's claim to be the pre-eminent marine centre. |
