| Abstract | The article is to convey the message that family physicians have important roles to play in the treatment of substance-related disorders. Such roles include screening and detection, assessment, early intervention, treatment for medical problems, assistance to family members, referral to specialized services, continual follow up and primary prevention. More emphasis and training in this area are needed. The author hope that family physicians and psychiatrists will join hands and contribute to a healthier society. |
