| Abstract | While the transfer of sovereignty takes place in 1 July 1997, economic ties of Hong Kong with China have already been under way for almost two decades. The article reviews the transformation of the Hong Kong economy and the economic ties between Hong Kong and China in the past two decades, and forcasts Hong Kong's future, which is likely to develop further as a cosmopolitan economy in the 21st century, focusing mainly on financial and servicing businesses. |
