| Abstract | The reunification of Hong Kong with China may not have been the driving force behind the construction of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre extension (HKCEC), but as the venue of the handover ceremony, it has come to represent a potent symbol of the event. The project has been developed by the Trade Development Council (TDC) with funding from the Hong Kong Government.
