| Abstract | As usual, Hong Kong's last resort is to dump rates when the going gets tough. But it may not work this time. Hong Kong buyers and tour operators say rates should be reduced to a "reasonable level", not just during the low season but for most of 1998. Prolonging these cuts would be in response to the handover uncertainties which persist in Hong Kong's major markets, including Japan, Taiwan and even the United Kingdom (UK). |
