| Abstract | Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of death in Hong Kong. Elevated serum cholesterol is a major risk factor for CAD. The paper presents a prospective clinical trial which assesses the plasma lipid response to the National Cholesterol Education program (NCEP) step-two diet. The findings showed that the NCEP step-two diet intervention can modify plasma lipid profile in Chinese patients with coronary heart disease and hypercholesterolaemia, and instill much better knowledge of hyperlipidaemia, while a good compliance to diet results in better plasma lipid profile. |
