| Abstract | The third HKU (University of Hong Kong) Liaison Office at China's most illustrious science institution, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was officially opened at a ceremony held at the University of Hong Kong on December 16, 1996. The article briefly reports the ceremony and the relevant agreements signed. The Joint Laboratory on New Materials, opened on January 8, 1997 providing tens of millions of dollars worth of state-of-the-art equipment, space and funding, is also introduced. |
