| Abstract | At the Conference on Smoking and Health held in Hong Kong in October 1996, noted speakers from the United Kingdom, Australia, and China jolted the participants with their expertise on the machinations of the tobacco industry in its attempts to replace the ever-decreasing numbers of smokers in western countries with Asian smokers. Advertising tactics were of prime concern for these speakers because it has been proven in numerous studies that young people respond to advertising by purchasing recognised brands. |
