| Abstract | Macau played host to a display of calculated cruelty in September and October in 1997. Despite the organisers' claims that the Portuguese "tourada" is not a sport but a colourful way of selecting brave bulls for breeding, all 24 animals involved in this tourada faced certain death in Macau's abattoir. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (SPCA) protests against this event in the article. |
